CABIN 8 SUNDAY SHOW
FEAT: Scott Keoni Shigeoka

Sunday, March 31, 2019
4pm-6pm

The Suttle Lodge's "Cabin 8" Artist-in-Residence program is a scrappy, warm-hearted offering to artists of all disciplines to spend 2 weeks on a lake in the woods so they may practice and produce the art of their choice. The artists' stay culinates with our Sunday Show- a presentation of work (past, present, or future) and an opportunity to share and connect with our Central Oregon community. These casual events mostly occur bi-weekly, and are free and open to the all-ages public. The Skip bar is open for all your food and beverage needs.

FEATURED ARTIST: Scott Keoni Shigeoka

Scott Keoni Shigeoka is an artist, designer and writer dedicated to awakening community, transforming trauma and bridging divides. At the Cabin 8 Artist-in-Residence, he will work on his forthcoming book, Outskirts: Learning from the Edges, which explores the fringes of society and nature as a way to uncover meaning in our lives. Specifically, he will explore fungi and its important role in our planet by connecting with local foragers and producing written and multimedia pieces which he'll share at the end of the residency through a designed immersive experience.

His creative projects focus on human experiences—death, identity, healing and belonging—and have been featured in Variety Magazine, MTV, The Washington Post and Fast Company. He loves islands (born in Hawaii, Fulbright in Iceland) and tree houses. He is a student of Japanese tea ceremonies and wabi-sabi (侘寂). His favorite word is ‘komorebi’ (木æ¼Âã‚Œæ—¥) which means the sunlight that shines between the leaves of a tree.
